You know those people you read about who are neck-deep in credit-card debt? I was one of them today. I could call each of them my brother or my sister.
I got an e-mail yesterday from Citi Cards about my Visa credit card:

To my horror, I found myself floundering in $78.02 of credit card debt.
The panic set in immediately. How could I possibly pay the loansharks for my splurges at the Marathon and Citgo gas stations? Would they ever understand that I hadn’t meant to use my personal credit card for that Shell station in Birmingham, Alabama?
There is a happy ending to this story. I clicked the “Pay Now” button and, in a single stroke, erased my debt. The feeling of oppression lifted from my shoulders. I am a new man.
